The Taittinger Regatta 2023 was in full swing on the Friday evening with the first of the ashore parties, the Champagne reception which saw a good few of the XOD fleet in attendance. This was followed by the legendary regatta ‘Towers Party’ which was a great success on the Saturday evening . . . . with a fantastic fireworks display during the interlude between the many bands playing on the main stage.
Unfortunately, due to strong winds of over 25 knots, the Saturday racing was cancelled. On the Sunday morning, just four Yarmouth XOD’s took part in the racing out of the 30 XOD’s entered. The start was in Bouldnor Bay and two short races were sailed in over 20 knots. Racing was close during the windward/leeward navigation courses set in the slightly more sheltered waters of Yarmouth. James Meaning in X156, Gleam, won the regatta, winning both races. In second place was George Alford in X125, Arrow, in third place was Hattie Lewis in X138, Spray, followed by Henry Murray-Smith in Xenon, X175.
