This was predominately a light air regatta with 22 boats competing, including visitors from Yarmouth, Hamble and Itchenor. Unfortunately, the first race on Saturday ended up being abandoned when the wind dropped further, making progress against a strong flood tide impossible. That evening, however, was a great success with the Regatta Dinner and Party, including a live band.

Racing resumed on Sunday with Nik Froud sailing Andy Oddie’s Fury X82, winning both races. On Monday it was a different boats’ turn to take the glory with James Markby, David Bedford and Ben Paton in X-Ray X117 wining all 3 races! On Tuesday it was the turn of Claire de Lune X33, sailed by Simon McCarthy, Jeremy Baker and Mike Crowe, to take the win. Then, on the final day, we had another different winner! This time James Meaning and his team in Gleam X156 were victorious.

In the end, just 5 points separated the top 3 boats overall, with the victory going to Team Markby in X-Ray, James Meaning in Gleam second. The Ellis family: Cordelia, Richard and Pete, in Myrtle X76, putting together a very consistent series to take third overall. The prize giving was well attended and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors there were prizes aplenty! Grateful thanks were also given to our excellent PRO, Mike Cowan, who together with all the Race Team, did a fantastic job in not the easiest of conditions.

Also many thanks to our sponsors:   Harken, Baker Marine, Sanders Sails, North Sails, River Room Hospitality, Coffee Direct, Nick Cox Chandlery Force 4 Chandlery, Ocean Rigging, Wessex Distillery and Europa Composi.
