X5 Madcap

1911 by Woodnutt

Madcap X5

Built by Woodnutts in 1911 of pitch pine on oak this amazing vessel comes with a race winning pedigree, ready for a new owner to take the helm and win the 2022 Captains Cup.

Epoxied inside and out, the current owner has spared no expense in maintaining this beautiful boat in pristine condition and fully optimised for racing. Excellent mast and new minimum weight boom, mostly new standing and running rigging, soft luff jib, tactic compass, electric bilge pump and race efficient cockpit.

Two full suits of Sanders sails, with the most recent having had little use, over boom cockpit cover and road trailer.

Steeped in XOD history, Madcap has enjoyed an illustrious career and is a captains Cup winner. Based in Lymington and preferring for her to remain with the Lymington Division there is possibility of a mooring for the season if required.

X30 Onward

1920 by Woodnutt

Onward – fully refurbished in 2007

Sad to sell Onward that Ron Rogers persuaded me to buy from Jason Field after a full refurbishment in 2007.

She  has given me great fun for 10 years and more.

Onward, equipped with all spars, rig and full set of Batt sails is in fair condition and was raced in the 219 season. She comes with a Hamble  XOD pontoon mooring shown.

I will miss owning her in her centenary year!

She can be seen laid up in Satchell Lane Hamble.

X150 PEPPER

1964 by Hamper

PEPPER- X150

Pepper has been in my ownership for nearly 9 years. She has been kept on the River Hamble at the XOD Pontoon nearby Hamble Yacht Services during the racing season and stored ashore under cover on her trailer at Botley during the winter months.

Pepper is a non-epoxied XOD, white topsides with red boot-top and blue antifoul.

During my ownership the keel bolts have been replaced in 2017. The bottom section of the mast was converted from round to square by a Hamble shipwright in 2016 and North Sails measured the mast and recorded the deflection and stiffness test as mid range. She comes complete with two good useable sets of sails 2016/2018 which have not seen much use due to the pandemic. She was converted to Soft Luff in 2018 for the Sanders Jib and the North Jib was also converted. She was weighed and measured in the spring of 2021.

Included in the sale with Pepper are the following :

Hamble Pontoon Berth (approx XOD pontoon group annual charge < £700 ).

Four Wheel Road Trailer and light board.
